Job Description:


About the role -
We have an informal rotation program in the US Life Valuation team. Our associates start out in one of the areas below, rotate within the team annually such that over three years they develop expertise across the Valuation function. The informal rotation provides a wider breadth and flexibility in responsibilities (as opposed to working strictly in the same function for two years). This framework intends to train the students not only on technical skills, but also on coordination, planning, and management skills.


Model and Assumptions

  • Build and maintain projection models for individual life reinsurance transactions.
  • Govern model changes, ensuring they meet best practices and conform with the Model Control Framework.
  • Reduce model complexity and improve efficiency where fit.
  • Maintain Assumptions Inventory and validate annual assumptions update

Reporting and Analysis

  • Perform quarterly valuation on multiple accounting bases (GAAP, Stat, Tax) and quarterly quantification of VIF and VNB (Value of Inforce and New Business).
  • Lead in the preparation and analysis of reserves, risk capital, and financial statements.
  • Maintain effective and efficient quarterly processes and recommend additional controls should there be gaps in the reporting process.

Data and Research

  • Work extensively with large datasets in SQL and R to perform rigorous analysis of data.
  • Provide ondemand support to other functions (experience analysis, inforce management, etc).
  • Support in the research of emerging accounting and reserving regimes (SII/PBR/USGAAP Targeted Improvement).

Qualifications:


Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Skills: AXIS, SQL, R, Excel
  • Experience modeling in AXIS is preferred.
  • SQL/Access or similar database management tool.
  • R and statistical modelling skills are desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
  • Experience:
  • Effective problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle with multiple priorities.
  • Proactive selfstarter.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge:
  • Business acumen of the life reinsurance industry
  • Familiarity with individual life products
  • Qualification:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 Society of Actuaries exams
