XRD Project Data Mineralogist


Location:
ALS Metallurgy, Kamloops (with possibility of working remotely)


Reports to:
Mineralogy Manager


About the Position:

As a key part of the Mineralogy team, the Data Mineralogist is responsible for data analysis and reporting.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and training to employees in mineralogical analysis techniques.
  • Uses correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observes established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Excellent organizational ability and time management skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively meet deadlines;
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Able to exercise initiative and appropriate judgement to ensure projects are completed on time without supervision;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Focused on continuous improvement, striving to improve processes and/or develop new methods.
Required Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Geology or Earth and Ocean Science working towards a PGeo;
  • Desired to have experience in mineralogy, mineral exploration or metallurgical processing;
Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work including work remotely;
  • Ability to view data on a computer screen and interpret results;
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
