Description
System Administrator to upgrading Windows 2012 servers to 2019Contract, min 6 months, w/ strong possibility of renewal
Cambridge, Ontario (hybrid - w/ infrequent office time required)
Protected B clearance required (must be in Canada for 5 years, w/ criminal record globally)
The infrastructure team is responsible for operating multiple data centers and providing services such as server builds and support, storage solutions, messaging and directory services, hardware and end user support.
As a member of the team, responsibilities will include support of Windows and Linux servers in an on premise environment performing basic monitoring, log checking, patching, network administration (DHCP, DNS), equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and technical support.
Knowledge of production support process including incident/change/problem management, call triaging, maintenance of run documentation, and critical issue resolution procedures is a must.
Responsibilities:
Act as the primary system administrator for windows upgrade project
Building, configuring and administering physical and virtual servers running Windows Server 2008,
Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2. 2019
hosting platforms.
Upgrade and patch ESXi hosts.
Create accurate, detailed technical procedures & installation instructions.
Triage and resolve incidents and service requests in the infrastructure queue.
Participate in the annual IT disaster recovery exercise.
Must have:
5+ years experience as a System Admin working in a large enterprise infrastructure environment
3+ years experience in a Microsoft environment w/ advanced knowledge of Active Directory (FSMO roles, AD group management), DFS and IIS.
and Microsoft Exchange 2016.Experience working with VMware ESXi (preferably version to build virtual machines.
Experience with ServiceNow
Nice to have:
Prior exposure to AWS or Azure
Experience with PowerShell or another scripting.
Experience working with and managing Cisco UCS chassis and blades.
Prior exposure to PCI compliant infrastructure environment
Experience working with Veeam backup software.
Experience working with Whats Up Gold monitoring tools
Experience with Linux
Pay rate should be:
$40 - $50/hr incorporated
$30 - $40/hr T4
T4 is less because we have to subtract Vacation, Stat Allowance, EI, CPP, EHT, and admin fees Bill rate is max $80/hr Incorporated + HST
- The admin fee is $2.50.
- Max pay rate should be $50/hr incorporated + HST. The less, the better.

When comparing to full-time, use the below calculation
Hourly rate x Hours worked per week x weeks worked per year (50)
Example:
$60/hr x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year

$50/hr x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year
= $ % HST ($12 128)
$45/hr x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year
= $ % HST ($
$40/hr x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year
= $ % HST ($9 750)
$35/hr x x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year
= $ % HST ($8 531)
$30/hr x 37.5 hours per week x 50 avg weeks worked per year
= $ % HST
You have to pay your own taxes at the end of the year, which is much lower than a regular employee.
