Hours: 15 hours per week; 2 shifts per week

As an integral member of the Specimen Management team, the
Laboratory Technician III, ECG** performs a variety of support functions under direct supervision including: performing mainly electrocardiogram and phlebotomy, in assigned area; using accepted safety procedures; performing report handling and statistics collection responsibilities; maintaining responsibility for inventory and supply control; performing other duties related to ECG; observing and understanding Hospital and departmental policies and procedures; adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality; performing cross-functional duties, as assigned, or requested; performing other duties related to and consistent with the job classification, as required.

Will be required to work at all sites as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade 12, or recognized equivalent
  • Graduate of a certified post secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program, or recognized equivalent
  • MLPAO (Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario) or CSMLS certification, preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year related work experience in a Hospital setting
  • Minimum one (1) year recent work experience in, ECG and venipuncture
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory equipment maintenance and operation
  • Effective organizational, time management skills and prioritization skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of appropriate behavior required working successfully in a diverse work group.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in a laboratory
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and on their own
  • Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
