    The Volunteer's Role

    The goal of the Communications and Marketing Advisor position is to capture the numerous success stories that have been achieved through the SHARE project.

    Your role will involve utilizing your creative writing skills to conduct informal interviews with project partners and beneficiaries to create various written articles. These articles will be shared with potential donors and local media outlets. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing a marketing strategy that will contribute to the sustainability of the project. This will involve researching and utilizing local media outlets such as radio, newspapers, and social media platforms to reach a wider audience and communicate the work of the SHARE project. Collaborating with other international and national volunteers will provide opportunities to contribute to workshop content and participate in site visits.

    The Iringa project partners will offer strong support and collaboration, as they are eager to work with you and utilize your knowledge and input to enhance the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the local area.

    As a volunteer, you will:

  • Evaluate current external communications strategies.
  • Create a communications and marketing plan based on identified gaps.
  • Conduct informal interviews and/or focus groups with project partners, international and national volunteers, and local SMEs.
  • Identify opportunities for local media content, such as radio, newspaper, and advertisements, and develop supporting marketing content.
  • Collaborate with international and national volunteers to deliver learning workshops to TCCIA, TWCC, and SIDO.
  • Provide extensive support for social media posts, including creating and curating a wide range of engaging content across various platforms.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Essential Background:

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in a communications or marketing role
  • 2 – 3 years of experience creating promotional content in various formats such as writing, visuals, audio, etc.
  • Proficient in facilitation and training with a track record in designing and conducting workshops

In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy.

    Partner - Small Industries Development Organisation Mtwara

    The Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) in Tanzania plays a vital role in promoting small industrial enterprises in the country. It coordinates activities, conducts market research, provides technical assistance, promotes technological advancement, and offers management and consultancy services. SIDO advises the government, conducts research on small industry development and product marketing, and facilitates the orderly and balanced growth of small industries in Tanzania by providing necessary services and training facilities.
