POSTING DETAILS
Position - Director - Learning Support Services

Salary - $162,049 to $178,076

Reports To - Deputy Superintendent

Start Date - August 1st, 2024

Employment - Full-time, Permanent


THE OPPORTUNITY


In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Deputy Superintendent and assume comprehensive oversight of the Learning Support Services department.


Your primary responsibilities will encompass:
Connecting with the District Leadership Team leading the implementation of Ensouling our Schools.

Coordination and leadership of monthly Learning Support Teacher meetings.

Support for school-based teams in IEP planning and program execution.

Development of Professional Development pathways for Education Assistants.

Collaborate with the District Based Team Committee.

Active participation in the District Audit/Review Team.

Management of Health and Safety protocols for students with complex needs.

Oversight of Emergency Preparedness measures for staff and students.

Collaboration with Human Resources on the recruitment and retention of Learning Support Services personnel.

Administration and management of the Learning Support Services budget to bolster student success.

Fulfillment of additional responsibilities as delegated by the District Leadership Team

Collaboration - In the work to meet the needs of every learner, working collaboratively with a team is imperative.

You will exhibit effective communication and leadership skills as a member of the Directors' team, Instructional Services, Learning Support Services, and Human Resources, to exemplify and foster a Professional Learning Community at the System Level.


You will collaborate/lead the:
Facilitation of the Feeding Futures program.

Leadership in Safe Schools initiatives.

Liaison with the Critical Incident Response Team.

Coordination of Joint Educational Planning and Support for Children and Youth in Care.

Organization of bi-monthly meetings with District Youth Care Workers.

Implementation of all aspects of the Ensouling our Schools model as practiced within the Langley School District.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A pertinent graduate degree in fields related to Inclusive Education, Special Education, or Counselling.

Certification or eligibility for the Teacher Regulation Branch.


A minimum of five years of experience in a school Principal role, demonstrating a track record of effective leadership (Preferably at various school levels).

Comprehensive knowledge of student support services and inclusive practices.

Experience with K-12 students of diverse abilities and mental health needs.

Understanding of individualized student plans and provincial outreach programs.

Dedication to consultative, collaborative teamwork.

A vision for enacting best practices and programs for priority learners.

Exceptional relationship-building skills with all partners and rightsholders.

Commitment to ongoing professional development for oneself and one's team.

A congenial, adaptable, and principled approach to leadership.

Proficiency in technology.

A valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle for district-wide travel.
