Boundless Legal Function:


Join Boundless Life as our General Counsel and lead our legal function, providing strategic guidance and ensuring legal compliance in a dynamic and growing organization.

Your exceptional negotiation skills, expertise in international employment law, contracts, fundraising, and broad international legal experience will be instrumental in supporting our global operations.


Primary responsibilities:


Legal Strategy and Compliance:


  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and stakeholders on a broad range of legal matters impacting the organization.

Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of various contracts, including employment agreements, vendor contracts, leases, fundraising documents, and other legal agreements.

Utilize exceptional negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and outcomes for the organization.

  • Ensure contracts protect the company's interests, minimize risk, and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Contract Management and Negotiation:
  • Develop and implement the company's legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Fundraising and Investment:


  • Work closely with executive leadership on fundraising initiatives, including preparing necessary legal documentation for fundraising rounds.
  • Assist in setting up real estate funds and international syndicates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external parties to facilitate successful fundraising efforts.

Licensing and Permits:


  • Setup local entities in all countries where we need to operate
  • Take responsibility for all licensing and permit requirements for the organization's operations in various countries.

Legal Risk Management:


  • Identify and assess legal risks across the organization, and develop strategies to mitigate and manage these risks effectively.
  • Provide proactive legal guidance to minimize potential liabilities and ensure legal compliance in all aspects of the business.
  • Outside Counsel Management:
  • Select and manage local outside counsel to support legal matters, ensuring cost efficiency and quality of service.
  • Collaborate closely with outside counsel, providing guidance and oversight to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements:


  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar. Preferably Europe or Canada.
  • 10+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a focus on commercial law, employment law, contract negotiation, fundraising, and international law.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in international employment law and contracts, preferably including Europe or Canada.
  • Prior inhouse or startup experience, with a keen understanding of business needs and priorities.
  • Broad international legal experience, with knowledge of laws and regulations in various jurisdictions.
  • Excellent legal drafting and contract management skills.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise legal advice to nonlegal stakeholders.
  • Experience managing external legal counsel and optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Prior inhouse or startup experience, business savvy, and the ability to manage local outside counsel to optimize cost efficiency are highly valued in this role.
