About the role:

We are looking for a big thinker A creative and driven communications professional who can challenge traditional thinking and successfully execute when it comes to communicating, advancing, and promoting our Sustainability, Finance, Corporate Legal, and Compliance priorities.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, the Manager, Corporate Communications is responsible for delivering integrated communications programs to support our Sustainability and Corporate Functions (Finance, Legal, Compliance and Risk) business partners.

This role will also have an opportunity to help with special projects as they arise.

With a heightened focus on Sustainability, this results-oriented communications professional will also work closely with the broader enterprise communications team.

What will you do?

Primary communications contact for our business partners
Provide strategic communications counsel and develop integrated communications strategies, media plans and materials that meet business priorities
Oversee, write, and edit content for the intranet and other employee communications channels
Leverage new and existing communications channels, including internal news site and social media, to engage employees
Support change management communications including organizational changes and announcements
Provide leaders with communications support and counsel for business priorities by developing briefing materials, presentations, executive notes, media materials, web articles and speaking remarks for projects and events (i.e. Town Halls)
Demonstrate awareness of media landscape and current issues with the ability to connect Sun Life's sustainability strategy to business priorities
Identify key media opportunities and generate proactive and timely pitching ideas
Pitch news media in print, broadcast, radio, trades, social media, and multicultural media outlets
Develop and sustain metrics for monitoring and continuous improvement of communications
Lead a highperforming team of two and coach and mentor more junior team members

What do you need to succeed?

58 years experience working in Communications or a related field
University degree or college diploma in journalism, communications, or public relations
Excellent communication, writing, editing and project management skills
Exceptional consulting skills with senior executives including the ability to influence/problem solve
Solid grasp of media landscape and experience with media pitching and news judgement
Experience with organizational change communication and employee engagement
Experience in employee/change communications
Ability to think and act strategically
Ability to work independently and to exercise judgement
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a highvolume environment
High degree of comfort adapting to new technologies to improve efficiency and be open to problem solve
