    De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.

    Profile

    The Aeronautical Design, Structures, & Stress Engineer will design and/or provide support to the structural design team. Will perform structural (stress) analysis, generating the associated documentation. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and working in close cooperation with the Design Manager and the structural delegate, the candidate will also assist in development of analysis best practices.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • 3D Design of structural modifications, including new equipment and antenna installation supported by SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
    • Generate certification/substantiation documentation, (Damage Tolerance Analysis, load, and stress data, supported by AFGROW software would be an asset)
    • Review internal drawings/documentation for technical accuracy.
    • Determine the extent of affected airworthiness standards (CAR, FAR), proposes means of compliance with affected standards.
    • Remain current with respect to Transport Canada and Foreign airworthiness standards.
    • Participate in and contribute to discussions surrounding project related design and airworthiness issues.

    Education and Professional Qualifications

    Skills & Experience

    • The candidate shall possess a minimum of four (4) years' experience in aviation.
    • Aircraft structural design experience utilizing both Solid works and Autodesk AutoCAD
    • Experience in static analysis, damage tolerance and fatigue analysis.
    • Familiarity with TCCA, FAA, and EASA aircraft certification guidance and policy documents.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • A strong sense of initiative and professional engineering judgement
    • Available for travel when needed.
