Overview of the opportunity:


The PRIM practice within KPMG's Cyber Risk Consulting group is a dedicated and passionate team working across the country serving a variety of clients, including financial services, health care and private sector business operating across multiple jurisdictions to assist with their privacy program needs.

We have former privacy lawyers, technologists, archivists, data scientists, privacy engineers, privacy and information management specialists, some of whom have experience in working for privacy regulators and also served as global Chief Privacy Officers.


The Cyber Group is a fast-growing area for KPMG that provides multidisciplinary services, including litigation support, cyber investigation, data analytics, privacy advisory services, records and information management, quantification of damages, financial crime, review of insurance claims, advice on fraud risk management strategies, compliance with contracts and other similar assignments.


Our PRIM team is interested in hiring a Manager to join its practice in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and enjoys a fast-paced environment to learn and grow.

As a Manager, you will be responsible for client relationship management, building an ever-growing book with a particular focus on building new or enhancing our existing service offerings.

You will lead a growing practice and work closely with our privacy team in Quebec, in addition to managing our vendor alliances.


What you will do:
The successful incumbent shall be responsible for providing a variety of privacy and information management services, including leading and growing a team of 20+:

  • Privacy program design & training, implementation and automation
  • Privacy by Design assessments & certifications, audits and reviews, especially for emerging technologies (e.g. AI, facial recognition, surveillance)
  • Privacy and information management target operating models
  • Records and information management reviews, strategies and solutions
  • Data lifecycle reviews and data protection solutions
  • Data mapping & inventories
  • Data governance
  • Consent management strategies and solutions
  • Participating in the development and execution of advisory service plans, information risk management strategies; business cases; costbenefit analysis and benefits realization deliverables;
  • Supporting the delivery of internal audit advisory, internal control, governance, policy and regulatory compliance projects and/or Client presentations;
  • Designing and delivering of change leadership, training, communication and organizational awareness projects associated with the effective management of information as an organizational asset;
  • Assisting with business and practice development efforts, proposals, marketing material, internal and external presentations, blogging and/or white paper development;

  • Strong and demonstrated leadership skills
  • The ability to work independently with mínimal supervision as well as work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Solid business administration and management acumen
  • Well organized with good prioritization/workload management abilities
  • Substantial people management and development skills
  • Commitment to selflearning and continuous skill and professional knowledge development

Keys to your success

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and working with large teams
  • Project Management skills is mandatory
  • Bilingual is an asset
  • Successful completion of a professional or graduate degree in business, privacy, technology, computer science, library and information science, data analytics, or law
  • IAPP certification(s) preferred
  • ARMA, AIIM, and/or DAMA certified preferred
  • Minimum 46 years of relevant professional work experience;
  • Privacy by Design / privacy engineering
  • Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP)
  • ARMA Principles
  • CSA Model Code, Fair Information Principles
  • Canadian privacy laws, regulations, and the GDPR
  • Industry standards such as: ISO and NIST
  • National and international standards and regulatory guidance on ethical AI, machine learning and other emerging technologies
