The Recreation Programming Division is responsible for the provision of programs and leisure opportunities for all age groups and abilities year-round.

The Division promotes healthy lifestyles and works with individuals and community groups in the provision of recreation services.

***: The Recreation Activity Leader - Cooking is responsible for the organization, supporting and facilitation of recreation programs. Using creative skills in a leadership role to organize activities that may include a variety of cooking programs for children, youth, adults and adaptive participants. Reports to the Assistant Managers of Recreation Programming, Adapted Programs Coordinator and/or Youth Services Supervisor.

This is a non-union, casual position. Hours of work will be part time, as required and may include evenings, days and weekends. Wages vary from $20.75-$27.50 / hour based on experience and qualifications. An additional 4 % of gross wages is paid in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in culinary arts or combination of education and cooking experience in a teaching setting
  • Criminal Records Clearance
  • Foodsafe
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development (recommended)
  • Related experience with children/youth
  • Related program experience in recreation
  • Related experience teaching cooking to children, youth and/or adults
  • Have a strong commitment to professionalism
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to actively participate in recreation programming
  • Current First Aid and CPR Level C
