    Description

    The Municipal Infrastructure and Finance Branch of the Ministry of Government Relations has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a self-directed and reliable accounting professional to collaborate and provide expertise in the provision of financial auditing and financial reporting services for various Federal and Federal-Provincial infrastructure funding agreements.

    As a Senior Program Auditor, reporting to the Director, Canada Community-Building Fund and Financial Management, you will lead a team of auditors and be responsible for planning and conducting financial audits, including performing risk assessments, developing audit plans, establishing audit objectives, designing and conducting audit and quality assurance procedures, preparing audit reports, and providing explanatory audit findings.

    You will have a comprehensive knowledge of public sector generally accepted accounting standards (PSAS) and Canadian generally accepted auditing standards (CAS) and experience in interpreting and applying the principles and knowledge of government budgetary, legislative, and financial processes.

    You are an innovative thinker with strong analytical, research, and conceptual skills that will help you to develop program policies that integrate program priorities with long-term strategies and desired outcomes.

    The successful candidate must demonstrate proven written and verbal communication skills in order to prepare and present clear and concise documents, such as audit reports, annual financial and management reports, program policies, procedures, agreements, briefing notes, and Cabinet submissions.

    You will demonstrate respect and integrity in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including officials with Saskatchewan's municipal associations, and federal, provincial and local governments.

    The knowledge and abilities required for this position typically will be gained through a professional accounting and/or auditing designation (CPA, CIA), a degree in commerce or business administration, along with related accounting and financial audit experience, preferably in the public sector.
