We are looking for General Manager to bring an elevated experience to our guests at Valerie. The three-story rooftop concept features 360-degree views of the city, an outdoor all-season pool and a rooftop skybar.

Each floor offers a different experience including a sophisticated cocktail bar and attractive live music but will stream together under one cohesive Japanese influenced concept.

A multifaceted role, the General Manager works to oversee the operations of the restaurant.

Focusing on staff training, generation of top line revenue and management of labour and cost of goods, the General Manager will be involved in leading all aspects of the restaurant to success while ensuring a best-in-class guest experience.

What You'll Do

  • Champions the brand's vision and values and contribute to maintaining a strong culture and healthy working environment
  • Uphold our standards at all times and treat everyone with courtesy and respect
  • Cost Management: daily invoices, prudent decision making
  • Labour Management: appropriate staffing levels to achieve highest service standards
  • POS Programming: POS must be updated with current menu, ensure proper modifiers listed for ease of communication with kitchen
  • PMIX Analysis: identify consistently low selling items and think of ways to boost sales (promos, preshift knowledge, staff tasting)
  • Sales Inputs: complete Hero Docs
  • Restaurant Tech (clover/SW/): execute roll outs and overall support tech initiatives with suggested improvements and learnings
  • Elevate service and give final approval for FOH staff to graduate training
  • Prepares and implements standard operating procedures, coordinates restaurant operations during each shift, determines and implements operating improvements
  • Manages all aspects of staff performance in accordance with established service standards, ensure staff knows and adheres to established steps of service and service standards
  • Control Profit & Loss (i.e., plan attainment) by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions
  • Monitors adherence to health, safety and hygiene standards within location, ensure compliance with restaurant security procedures, inclusive of alcohol regulations, ensure a safe working environment by facilitating safe work behaviours of the team and guests, maintains safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems
  • Maintains restaurant cleanliness and upholds aesthetics standards of Valerie
  • Organize and create venue leadership schedules for approval Monitor staff schedules and ensures that budgeted labour costs are met
  • Maintaining accountability for all internals controls around invoices, cash and other payments handling and procedures
  • All responsibility to cash handling procedure, maintenance and safe and till handling weekly auditing
  • Interacts with guests, to ensure all inquiries, guest recovery and complaints are handled promptly, providing a bestinclass guest experience
  • Creates and maintains a PX list
  • Review Hero Doc and monitor restaurant sales and revenue
  • Implementation and execution on marketing and promotional activities
  • Appropriately adapts to seasonal changes and creates and manages relevant initiatives
  • Arranges for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services
  • Ensure repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance plan for the building, facility, and grounds as per the Purchasing Manager
  • Recruit, interview, and hire team members; conduct performance appraisals, take disciplinary action, motivate and train
  • Assesses staffing requirements on a continuous basis to identify current needs
  • Oversee trackers on a daily
  • Review weekly reservations and events
  • Host and lead weekly manager meetings
What You'll Need

  • Prior management experience in the restaurant industry, experience in upscale environments is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours, on foot
  • Knowledge of various operational systems.
