The Materials Technician role will entail

  • Conduct quality inspections on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Monitor the proper placement of various construction materials and assess the quality of workmanship.
  • Report any identified nonconformance concerns to the management team.
  • Prepare and collect samples for laboratory testing.
  • Perform tests in the field or laboratory on construction materials to evaluate their quality.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and care of materials testing equipment and vehicles.
  • Foster and maintain positive client relations through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Actively engage in and support Helix's Quality Management System.
Job Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Civil, Mining or Mechanical Engineering program with 12 years of academic experience.
  • Possession of CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 certifications.
  • Up to 1 year of construction experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver abstract.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor work.

Job Types:
Full-time, Internship

Contract length: 4-8 months


Salary:
$20.00-$25.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 35 per week
