Compensation Range

$5, $7,294.50 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

Knowledge Mobilization Specialist for Wellstream:
The Canadian Centre for Innovation in Child & Youth Mental Health & Substance Use.

Led by Dr Emily Jenkins, Canada Research Chair in Population Health Approaches to Mental Health and Substance Use, Wellstream comprises a team of leading mental health, substance use and education scholars and practitioners, graduate students, and community partners who identify the emergent needs of children, youth and their communities and innovate solutions that promote positive mental health and wellbeing and minimize substance use harms.

Housed at the University of British Columbia, Wellstream is bilingual, national in scope and impact.

We require a skilled Knowledge Mobilization Specialist to help us communicate, engage and disseminate our research outcomes across various social media and science communication platforms to increase our reach with diverse stakeholder groups, including education practitioners, collaborators, and donors.

Organizational Status

The Knowledge Mobilization Specialist reports to Dr. Jenkins, Scientific Director of Wellstream.

The Knowledge Mobilization Specialist will also work directly with the Managing Director of Research for Wellstream, and the Directors of Engagement and K-12 Partnerships and Outreach at Wellstream for Schools.

Work Performed

  • In consultation with Wellstream's leadership, identifies key opportunities to develop stakeholder engagement activities and provides ongoing public relations expertise for each of Wellstream's divisions (e.g., Wellstream for Schools and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use) and in both of Canada's official languages.
  • Creates and implements public events and outreach programs and provides project coordination for engagement initiatives and/or programs such as training events.
  • Creates fundraising and awareness materials for public and donor relations.
  • Develops and implements a social media strategy, including making social media contacts, scheduling posts and tracking impact.
  • Develops communications/knowledge translation plans, articles, announcements, researcher profiles and web page content, including the regular production and distribution of a Wellstream newsletter
  • Writes reports and proposals for knowledge users, community stakeholders and funders.
  • Conceptualizes, writes, and produces relevant content for each of Wellstream's divisions that creatively engages a broad audience including researchers, health and education practitioners, potential trainees, youth, funders, policy makers and other followers and supporters across multiple channels (e.g., website, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and other social media platforms, print and online magazines). Utilizes a variety of formats as appropriate (e.g., social post, photo essay, video, digital signage, posters, etc.).
  • Leads website design and maintenance along with other social media platforms including Instagram, X and other social media accounts associated with Wellstream.
  • Stays abreast of major communications trends, issues, and technologies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

People who rely on our platforms include knowledge users, policy and decision makers, researchers, community partners, and national and international collaborators.
