Outage Plan Coordinator.


Accountabilities:


During the Project Implementation Phase, you will participate in solution design, development and implementation of the Outage Planning technology and processes including automation Outage Plan requests with existing and future Bulk Electric System assets throughout Nova Scotia.


Following transition from the project and as a member of the Operations team you will work closely with the Outage Coordination Engineer to continually optimize and manage planned and unplanned outage requests.


The Outage Plan Coordinator is responsible for processing outage requests related to generation, transmission, distribution, substation, telecommunications, and operational technology which impact the operation of the power system.

This includes managing the outage request intake queue within the newly implemented technology; collating; packaging and facilitating approvals of the requests based on a set criterion in conjunction with the overall outage schedule and with Control Centre Operations System Engineering Support team inputs and approvals.


The Outage Coordination team is responsible to create and maintain annual generation outage schedules across the NSPI fleet in coordination with transmission line maintenance, substation maintenance, capital projects, distribution work, independent power producer outages, and outages of neighbouring entities which impact the Nova Scotia grid.

You will communicate outage plans to stakeholders along with status and impacts of outages pending or in progress in keeping with the Open Access Transmission Tariff Standards of Conduct regulations as applicable.

You will work with the Outage Coordination Engineer to ensure that system requirements for generation and reserve are met on a day-ahead basis, in alignment with system restrictions posed by planned outages and assist the Outage Coordination Engineer in working with NSPI Fuels group to minimize the economic impact of major component outages.


You will assist the Outage Coordination Engineer in conducting meetings daily, weekly, annually, and as required to communicate outage plans and to obtain approval of key stakeholders.

You are responsible to ensure outages have proper approval and supporting documentation before providing to System Operators as part of the daily package for execution.

You are responsible to document the outage process and track items to completion in the Outage Coordination SharePoint site.

Each workday, you will participate in the Daily Control Centre Operations meeting, updating the team on outages in progress, outages recently completed, and new outages planned.

You will participate in meetings for planning major NSPI outages to ensure the outage coordination process is followed in alignment with reliability standards requirements.


You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.


Skills, Capabilities and Experience:


  • You are a graduate of a Business Management Program from a recognized University or College which lends itself to general business operations coordination or management.
  • Appropriate translatable experience or exposure to NSPI Control Centre Operations and/or Systems Engineering Operations knowledge and work experience is an asset.
  • You possess strong oral and written communication skills, a strong customer service ethic, good interpersonal skills, and can function effectively in a team environment.
  • You are a selfstarter with proven organizational and analytical skills.
  • You possess strong computer skills, attention to detail and be able to manage competing priorities.
  • You must demonstrate your commitment to personal development.
  • You must be available to support emergency power restoration work.
You must possess a valid driver's license.

Specific knowledge of NSPI Control Centre Operations and outage coordination processes are also considered assets.
