What we'll accomplish together
  • The Video and Digital Content Specialist reports to the Manager, Digital Strategy in Marketing & Communications and works closely with project managers, strategists, digital and design team members, and marketing and communications professionals, and works with all areas of the college.
  • The Video and Digital Content Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, editing, and publishing videos, photos, and other digital content in support of the college's brand and strategic priorities. The position is also responsible for managing, storing, organizing, and cataloguing produced photos and videos using digital asset management tools. The Video and Digital Content Specialist must have a strong a background in producing, editing, and postprocessing videos and photos, as well as excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
    Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Produces and supports the publication of timely and engaging video content for the college's digital and social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Flickr, digital signage, and websites.
  • Plans, produces, and edits videos and photos for the college's digital channels including major events, announcements, success stories, student and staff interviews, marketing and recruitment, instructional videos, live streams, and Broll.
  • Arranges video and photo shoots including securing and staging locations and establishing schedules with participants.
  • Monitors and reviews analytics to evaluate digital content performance and utilizes metrics to optimize user engagement.
  • Manages, store, organizes, and catalogues department's digital assets using digital asset management tools.
  • Collaborates with Art Director to ensure all materials produced meet the college's brand guidelines.
  • Collaborates with Social Media Coordinator and content team to grow and expand the college's social media channels.
  • Manages and curates content for the college's YouTube channel including editing video snippets into cohesive stories.
  • Keeps up to date with video and digital content trends and continually evaluates existing and emerging technologies.
  • Supports external agencies responsible for larger, complex video and photo production projects by providing supplementary photos and videos for projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a 3year diploma in video and digital media production or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) or more years' related experience in videography, photography, production, and postprocessing and postproduction.
  • Experience producing short engaging video clips for timely use on social media.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced skills and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and After Effects.
  • Strong knowledge of videography, photography, and postprocessing and production; knowledge of motion graphics and animation techniques; knowledge of creating animated GIFs for social media platforms.
  • Strong storyboarding skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with live/ondemand streaming technologies.
  • Experience with digital asset management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience publishing content on popular social media platforms.
  • Experience with analytics tools to assess performance of digital content.
  • Familiarity publishing content on websites and digital signage using content management software.
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards for video and digital content (e.g., captions, transcriptions, colour contrasts.)
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization for digital content.
  • Knowledge of audio editing.
  • Knowledge of B.C.'s copyright and trad
