Description

Performs a variety of cooking and re-thermalization duties in accordance with the approved menus, food production guidelines, standardized recipes, and department policies and procedures.

Maintains a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness in the Food Service Area in compliance with Provincial Public Health Regulations, Food Safe Standards and Provincial Long Term Care Accommodation Standards.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:_

High School Diploma is required

Certificate in Food Safety is required

A Journeyman Cook Certificate is preferred

Enrollment in a Journeyman Cook or Culinary Arts (cooking) program is an asset

Experience:_

Previous related mass quantity cooking experience in a health care setting or hospitality industry is preferred

An equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered

Personal Competencies:_

Must pass CapitalCare literacy test

Knowledgeable in recipe development and in using a variety of production methods and equipment

Takes initiative to solve problems creatively and effectively

Prioritizes work needs, exercise good judgment and adapt to changing routines within established Food Services standards

Ability to follow and adhere to policies and procedures ofCapitalCare; safety procedures for Infection Control, WHMIS and back careDemonstrates an awareness of any unsafe acts or conditions, accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices, procedures and use of protective equipment; and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.
