Do you have a passion for people, providing and preparing nutritious and delicious meals, and have a completed or are enrolled in a Food Service Worker program? The County of Elgin has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Dietary Aide at Elgin Manor.


Elgin Manor "the home where the heart is" is a 90 bed long-term care facility located in the Township of Southwold just minutes outside of St.

Thomas, ON.

As a PSW Nursing Student you will gain valuable experiences through hands-on resident care, receive support from leaders and colleagues, and gain exposure of a long-term care home environment.


Responsibilities:


As a Dietary Aide, you will be responsible for basic food preparation, assisting the Cook where needed, and handling food in accordance with safety and sanitary regulations.

You will also be responsible for service of food, setting and clearing tables, and receiving goods delivered to the dietary department.

Attention to detail is key, as you will keep accurate records while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment (knowing the proper procedures for operating and cleaning all equipment, utensils, work services, etc. used in food service areas).

  • Competitive salary of $25.31/hr $25.73/hr (2022 rates) and will receive 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation pay, paid every pay.

Qualifications:


  • Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • A passion for serving others and providing quality care
  • Cook diploma (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills

Conditions of Employment:


  • Successful completion of a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
  • Satisfactory TB documentation
