Y STUDENTS**
Summary:Clinical Externs can be clinical learners (students) in health discipline of respiratory therapy.

Externs are unregulated health care providers and will work as part of an interprofessional team under supervision of regulated health care providers.

This is a paid position as part of the Ontario Government's Enhanced Externship Program.

Externs will be placed in the Freeport Float Pool and given a chance to work in the ICU and throughout the hospital.

Role may include but are not limited to; checking of vital signs, setting up basic equipment, oral suctioning and supporting unit staff.


Qualifications:


  • Respiratory Therapy students in their 2nd and 3rd year of a training program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Respiratory Therapy Education, which is administered by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
  • Current certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
  • Excellent clinical skills and competencies
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent problemsolving, decisionmaking, critical thinking, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work as an effective member of an interprofessional team
  • Good attendance record
