Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting directly to the Associate Dean, Research and International, the Graduate Research Programs (GRP) Administrator is responsible for the smooth operation of student services and administrative duties pertaining to the MSc and PhD in Management programs and graduate research initiatives at the Sprott School of Business.

The Graduate Research Programs Administrator provides administrative support for all aspects of the MSc and PhD programs including curricular review and change, course scheduling, program promotion and student recruitment, admissions, student administration and support, graduate student funding, PhD comprehensive examination, MSc and PhD thesis proposal, MSc and PhD defense and graduation.

The incumbent liaises with the Academic Program Director, MSc and PhD programs and provides information and/or feedback on matters relating to graduate research student issues in the School.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Capable of relating to graduate research students in a post-secondary educational and research institution;
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good judgment and diplomacy
  • Clear understanding of graduate administrative procedures
  • Ability to multitask, problemsolve, be resilient, flexible, and work under pressure.
  • A high degree of attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to remain current on the many policies outlined in the Graduate Calendar, and to relay this information efficiently and pleasantly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports using tables and charts
  • Familiar with the School's website
  • Able to establish priorities and develop work plans, while taking into consideration the changing priorities in the School.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Must have AACSB related knowledge and experience (MSc and PhD programs and assessment of learning).
  • Must have demonstrated experience working with Banner and MS Office or comparable.
