Flora House is looking for an enthusiastic person interested in an exciting opportunity to work with kids, be active, and learn new skills.

The Flora House Kids afterschool program is a learning-through-play style activity-based program. We use academic strategies and positive reinforcement techniques to encourage kids to get involved and try new things.

A Class 4 Drivers Licence is required. A willingness to participate in a team environment and practice the Flora House techniques and strategies is necessary. Interest in working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers participating in Indigenous-focused programming is an asset.


Responsibilities and Duties

Driving Responsibilities

• Have and maintain a Class 4 driver's licence or higher
• Professionally drive and operate our 22passenger van to transport program students from school to the program, and home
• Plan and update routs for drop off and pick up
• Clean, sanitize and maintain the bus and parking area
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and documentation as directed (preand posttrip inspections, mileage and gas documenting)
• Effectively communicate with your direct report
• Incident reporting
• Load and unload the bus
• Must be able to lift 25lbs

Programming Responsibilities

• Programming support in using the Flora House training and education resources to help create a nurturing structured environment
• Use emotional regulation strategies for behavioural management
• Awareness of kids with additional needs
• Reinforce a culture of safety
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Daily dishwashing and light cleaning
• Digital Communication
• Fill hours electronically weekly on Google Drive
• Willingness to learn will be considered

About us
Flora House After School Program has been around for over 40 years and is currently undergoing many positive changes.

The program provides the kids in the program along with their families with quality care, a fun open learning environment, and relationship-building experiences for youth aged 6-12.

The Bus Driver and Activity Facilitator will be responsible for shuttling students to and from our after-school program (Flora House), facilitating programming for participants, and engaging with Flora House staff to create ongoing activities for our students.
