About Covenant House Vancouver:

Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness.

We provide support to young people age 16 to 24 who have experienced a wide range of early life and ongoing, complex trauma; including physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect.

Our purpose is to serve all youth, with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help youth experiencing homelessness, and provide a safe and supportive environment for all youth in need.


The Impact A Coordinator, Volunteer Services Can Make:

The Coordinator, Volunteer Services provides a senior level of operational support by building and managing relationships with 100+ operational volunteers to engage them in the work of Covenant House Vancouver (CHV).

The coordinator asks for donations of time to support our mission and helps tell CHV story to demonstrate the impact of how volunteers are making a difference in the lives of youth who choose CHV for support.

The coordinator applies a strong depth of knowledge in volunteer management practices to strength volunteer services.


How You Will Contribute:


  • Create tailored asks to the community
  • Manage and supervise 100+ volunteers and their relationships with Covenant House
  • Help supervise and provide knowledge to fellow Volunteer Services Coordinator
  • Respond to Volunteer Inquiries in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy Team with matching donors and vacant volunteer positions
  • Complete volunteer intakes, interview, references, police checks and new volunteer orientation
  • Complete Annual Engagement surveys to gain volunteer prospective of agency involvement
  • Provide evaluation feedback and support job reassignment of volunteers when necessary
  • Prepare and maintain Volunteer hub and Raiser Edge volunteer records
  • Prepare and maintain up to date volunteer policy, procedures, and volunteer handbook
  • Monitor and maintain accurate volunteer information on CHV website and any other recruitment websites
  • Coordinate and Assist with Volunteer Annual trainings
  • Work closely with programs to fulfill organizational needs with volunteer support
  • Assist the Manager, Volunteer services with the coordination of Volunteer Appreciation Week
  • Contribute to ongoing growth of the volunteer services program
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices related to volunteer services
  • Act as backup when Manager, Volunteer Services is away
  • Other duties as assigned

Who We Are Looking For?:


Education and Experience:


  • Volunteer Management Experience
  • Member of VMPC (Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge

Skills & Abilities:


  • Demonstrated ability to solicit volunteer support
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong problemsolving and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
  • Thrives in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask
  • Able to work with autonomy, be selfdirected and show initiative in managing responsibilities
