Alta Vista Animal Hospital is welcoming a
Veterinary Assistant to join our
Treatment department. The treatment team members are our superstars of all things patient care related. Working in conjunction with our ER team, these caring and dependable individuals ensure that all hospitalized patients from our ER, GP, and specialty departments are treated like one of their own during their stay.


Schedule:

Treatment shifts are 9 to 12 hours in length and are a mixture of days, evenings, weekends, and overnights, working with a team of other technicians and assistants.

We offer a generous overnight premium


Key responsibilities:

• Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments such as radiology, physical examination and patient assessment, procedure preparation, laboratory work, pharmacy, patient recovery, CPR, and critical care
• Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients
• Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents
• Create a positive, lowstress atmosphere for our clients and patients
• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of treatment area, pet holding areas, and common areas
• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, and updated medical procedures through wet labs and daytoday patient care

Key attributes:

• Successful completion of a Veterinary Assistant program
• Minimum 2 years in a Veterinary Assistant role
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, and oral), bilingualism is considered an asset
• Able to support up to 50mg and lift up to 25kg
• Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
• Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Proven ability to organize takes initiative, work independently, exercise good judgment
• Decisionmaking and criticalthinking skills
• Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships with professionalism and integrity
• A positive attitude and use of courtesy, diplomacy, and discretion to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality
