Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Space Flight Laboratory the incumbent provides a full range of support to assembly, integration and test of small spacecraft technology, supporting a world-class facility in the fast-paced field of small satellite development and technology research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing design processes that require great precision and attention to many details
- Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees on experiment set ups and lab techniques
- Analyzing and recommending suitable materials and methods of approaching fabrication and/or lab work
- Analyzing applicable installation methods for apparatus and devices
- Determining technical requirements for fabrication projects
- Designing, modifying and fabricating custom lab apparatus, tools and jigs
- Testing components and manufactured parts for usability
- Performing complex or scientific diagnostic tests
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in electromechanical integration and testing
- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a satellite manufacturing facility
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to make decisions using some independent judgment
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, including on tasks under tight timelines requiring critical attention
