General Accountability:


  • Performs a variety of administrative duties relating to the OEM warranty process to ensure the TTC obtains eligible warranty compensation for defective components. The role represents the TTC at "Defect Claim/Reliability and/or Material Review Boards" with the Suppliers. Liaises with personnel within the Department as well as with personnel in other TTC departments regarding parts warranty coverage, parts handling and quarantine control, repair orders, claim payments, etc.

Key Job Functions:


  • Perform a variety of functions including identification of warranty eligible components, collection of relevant evidences and processing of warranty claims.
  • Assist the Section project teams with support of reliability analysis and identification of latent defects.
  • Setup and maintain various databases for the tracking/reporting of warranty claims to completion and associated information (e.g. receipt of payments).
  • Liaise with personnel within the Department as well as with personnel in other TTC departments regarding parts warranty coverage, parts handling and quarantine control, repair orders, claim payments, etc.
  • Ensure manufacturers/suppliers comply with established warranty procedures.
  • Help determine reliability of parts or potential warranty replacements.
  • Provide guidance, expertise and advice, and make recommendations for improvement regarding areas related to assigned work.
  • Provide administrative support to Production Control Staff including coverage of personnel during periods of absence.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent, combined with related work experience.
  • Experience in a transit related environment preferred.

Additional Requirements:


  • Strong knowledge of concepts and practices of warranty claim management.
  • Very good understanding of serialized parts configuration management.
  • Experienced in using computerized maintenance system (CMM) is required for this role. Knowledge of MAXIMO is definitely an asset.
  • Detail oriented and possess sound judgement, welldeveloped interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize several work assignments simultaneously and meet critical time requirements is required; ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of rail vehicle systems (streetcar) and components and their function, shop procedures and terminology; must have the ability to recognize and identify parts on sight and utilize resources such as electronic manuals, CDs, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Materials & Procurement Department shipping procedures is a definite asset.
  • Familiarity with Rail Vehicle and/or Component/Service based contracts is beneficial.
  • Must have or quickly acquire knowledge of departmental and corporate policies, procedures, standards and practices, etc., applicable to the work.
  • Must have or quickly acquire working knowledge of TTC computer mainframe systems such as SMS, IFS and other databases utilized.
  • Must be able to report and/or travel to various TTC locations as related to job requirements.
