Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the care manager, the Social Worker II will work in alignment with established protocols from AHS policies, as well as adheres to professional and ethical principles as outlined in the College of Alberta Social Workers guidelines.
Carries out professional duties as assigned including clinical assessment for legally mandated adults within the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre.
Works effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and liaises and refers with outside agencies and professionals.Performs work with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional regional standards.
Prepares reports for the attending psychiatrist in collaboration with the treatment team when indicated for the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Services, the successful incumbent will carry out professional duties as assigned including court ordered assessments of individuals facing charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Duties include collection of SW histories, one to one interviews, history documentation, discharge and community transition procedures, attending weekly conferences, and maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times.

psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work with an emphasis in assessment, treatment, and specialization in forensics. Three to five years of recent experience working with a mental health population required. Special designation to be able to perform psychosocial interventions. Current Nonviolent crisis intervention and collaborative problem-solving training. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interviewing techniques, and verbal/writing and computer skills. Extensive experience in writing psychosocial reports is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in an inpatient forensic mental health facility.
