We are looking to add a
Battery Van Operator to our team within the
Astro Towing division.


Astro Towing has proudly been serving Saskatchewan for over 45 years, providing emergency roadside service, towing, accident and abandoned vehicle recovery, and hauling services to our community and partners.

Our fleet operates a variety of equipment ranging from battery vans and light duty tow trucks to heavy wreckers and tractor-trailer units.

The
Battery Van Operator drives a company van, helping customers with services such as boosting batteries, replacing batteries, filling tires with air, changing tires, and performing lockouts.

This position works 12-hour shifts starting at either 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. on a rotation of 7 days on shift and 7 days off shift.


What you'll be doing:

  • Provide roadside assistance in a safe, professional, timely and supportive manner.
  • Conduct self in a polite and considerate manner in all interactions with customers, dispatchers, and others.
  • Complete pretrip inspection sheets prior to each shift.
  • Inspect customer vehicles and any equipment prior to performing services for physical damage; take pictures and complete vehicle inspection sheets as appropriate.
  • Collect payments from customers via pointofsale machine.
  • Maintain accurate record of all cash sales and remit amounts to the company within 24 hours of completion of shift.
  • Complete paperwork as necessary to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Comply with all company directions, policies, rules, regulations, and practices, including those of any "service club" and when entering the property of a third party.
  • Abide by municipal, provincial, and federal laws and regulations, and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Maintain company vehicle and any equipment by providing all routine maintenance including washing, topping up fluid levels, and keeping the interior clean and tidy; and ensure that general maintenance such as oil changes and repairs are completed as necessary.
  • Immediately notify the company of any damage, operational failure or signs of operational failure concerning the company vehicle and any equipment.
  • Be ready and available for duty when shifts start, and for the entirety of shift.
  • Maintain personal appearance and uniforms in compliance with company policies and practices.
  • Other additional responsibilities when not on a trip include:
  • Provide general yard and compound maintenance such as collecting and discarding garbage and miscellaneous broken car parts
  • Shovel snow from walks, parking lot, and compound areas during winter months
  • Assist with general shop and wash bay maintenance such as sweeping, picking up debris, and emptying garbage cans
  • Help compound personnel by escorting customers through compound to access vehicles when assistance is needed
  • Assist with inventory counts
  • Assist with washing vehicles and equipment as requested
  • Attend meetings and training as requested for job and safety information.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
What you'll need to bring

  • Must hold and maintain a Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license
  • Friendly attitude with a strong focus on customer service
  • Mechanical aptitude with a passion for automobiles
  • Neat and tidy in appearance
  • Willingness and ability to stay calm under pressure and manage highstress situations
  • Ability to diffuse and resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Selfstarter mindset and ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • As this is a safetysensitive position, clear preemployment and ongoing random drug (including marijuana) and alcohol testing
  • Clear criminal record check
