The St.

Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic through the Canadian Seaway.

The Corporation plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the waterway remains a safe and well-managed system to enable ships to transit between Montreal and Lake Erie, through bridges and 13 locks.


Role:


  • The technical inspector is responsible for safely and efficiently planning the inspection work assigned to him in accordance with the contracts, drawings, specifications and applicable regulations in order to meet the operational requirements and ensure the longterm reliability of the Seaway's infrastructures, buildings and equipment

Responsibilities:


  • Perform inspections and follow up of various elements of the civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructures and facilities to ensure that they are in accordance with the drawings, specifications and applicable regulations.
  • Update the data in the applicable computer system.
  • Prepare and complete inspection reports.
  • Provide technical assistance to the maintenance group.

Experience and knowledge:


  • At least five (5) years of relevant technical experience
  • Knowledge of the applicable work procedures, rules, standards and practices for performing the duties.
  • Specific knowledge of the inspection techniques and practices of the field of expertise.
  • Knowledge of the quality assurance and quality control methods and procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of the SLSMC's organization

Education:


  • College Diploma in a related field

Certifications:


  • Eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists or with l'Ordre des technologues professionnelles du Québec
  • Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record

Hours of work:40 per week


Salary Range:
$38.58/hour (min) to $41.15/hour (max)
