Home Lot, North Lot, Sandy Hill, or Hwy 52


TERM OF WORK:
PT - 3 Nights ON, 5 Nights Off Rotation, 12 hour shifts (36 hours per week)

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Potato Hauler is to ensure adequate potato supply for optimal cattle feed. The Potato Hauler ensures proper rotation of potato inventory to ensure suitable potatoes are available for cattle feed. The Potato Hauler is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the potato pits at the feedlot yards.

This position is also responsible for adhering to the equipment maintenance schedules for all equipment used in the potato haul.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transport slurry, fries, potato scraps from potato plant to feedlot potato pits
  • Maintain cleanliness of potato pit and surrounding areas
  • Ensure proper rotation of potato inventory.
  • Adhere to all potato plant policies and procedures.
  • Follow all safety and operational protocols at potato plants.
  • Build and maintain courteous and professional relationships with potato plant staff.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of potatoes available for feed at respective yards,
  • Adhere to equipment maintenance schedules for all equipment including potato trucks and trailers.
  • Assist in other areas if potato hauling isn't required (rare).
  • Keep accurate records of potato loads.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Potato Hauler will have regular daily communication with the Potato Logistics Supervisor. Daily communication with potato plant staff is expected in order to keep track of potato loads.

The potato hauler will have frequent communication with other members of the feedlot team including feedlot managers and the Operations Manager.

The Potato Hauler will also have occasional communication with office staff and other managers, as required.


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Experience working in the agriculture industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Class 1 Driver's Licence is required.

TRAINING:

  • Onthejob training will be provided, as needed.
  • Additional training may also be provided, as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


Regular working hours for the Class 1 Driver (Potato Haul) is 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM but could work earlier or later to meet organizational needs.

The Class 1 Driver (Potato Haul) is required to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Most of the Class 1 Driver's (Potato Haul) time is spent in the trucks and equipment, however this position will be exposed to all environmental conditions in between trips.

This includes, but is not limited to, exposure to elements such as sun, wind, rain, snow, hot and cold temperatures.

The Class 1 Driver (Potato Haul) should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions each day.


BENEFITS:


Full-time, permanent incumbents of this position are eligible for company benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance benefits, after three months of employment.

Company paid pension plan benefits are available after one year of employment.


REMUNERATION:
Remuneration for this position is $29/hour.


LICENSE:
Class 1 required.
