Pay Rate:
$20/hr.
- Preparation of a variety of substrate materials opening boxes, cartons, packages, skids and properly placing materials into press feeder
- Ensure the paper is loaded into the feeding end for running jobs and maintain the paper supply throughout the job run. Lifting and jogging (fanning) of paper stock
- Set up and operate the feeder as required
- Liaise with pressman and coworkers to ensure supply of required materials
- Assist Press Operator with routine maintenance
- Washup press as required ink fountains, rollers, back steels, etc.
- Keep the press clean and ensure a tidy and safe working area
- Assist pressman by checking printed sheets on a regular basis for defects
- Assist pressman in Washing up press after the job is complete
Job Specification
- Must have 12 years of experience as a printing press helper or printing press operator.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of printing presses, including understanding the different components and functions of the equipment. Knowledge of various printing techniques, materials, and ink types is also valuable.
- Precision and meticulousness are vital in printing to ensure accurate setup, alignment, and quality control. Attention to detail helps identify any issues or errors during the printing process and make necessary adjustments.
- Physical fitness and stamina are important to cope with the demands of the job.
- Quick thinking and problemsolving skills are valuable when troubleshooting minor machine issues, making adjustments, and addressing printingrelated challenges that may arise during the production process.
- Effective collaboration with printing press operators, supervisors, and other team members is essential for smooth workflow and meeting production goals. Clear communication skills aid in conveying information, following instructions, and reporting any concerns or issues.
- The printing industry can involve working on various types of projects, materials, and printing presses. Being adaptable to different printing processes and equipment, as well as embracing new technologies or techniques, can be advantageous.
