JOB TITLE
Lead Hand - Mechanical Installation Technician


JOB SUMMARY
Daily work hours: 7:00 am

  • 3:30 pm
Position reports the Production Manager.


The Lead Hand - Mechanical Installation Technician performs tasks associated with the installation of service truck bodies, while being responsible for the department meeting production and safety expectations, development of install team members, training/mentorship, and efficient use of time and material.

They meet company productivity, quality, and safety expectations, while ensuring deadlines and procedures are maintained.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Lead duties
- lead a team of 16-20 employees

  • Create and implement a robust training program
  • Understands, supports, and adheres to the company's health and safety policies, programs and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to team members
  • Lead and document weekly tailgate meetings
  • Fill out incident reports and participate in incident investigations; ensure workers complete proper incident reporting
  • Monitor and relay project details/timelines to the team; ensure completion of production demand/volume, quality standards and timelines are met
  • Develop, mentor and implement continuous improvement on the production floor through regular feedback, coaching, training, and encouraging install team members
  • Ensure install team members are properly trained, mentored, and oriented
  • Interpret written production information for personnel on shift
  • Monitors work progress, results and revises production schedules as needed
  • Handles performance reviews and progressive disciplinary action

Install Technician Duties

  • Installation of service truck body accessories (truck rails and boxes, running boards, trim, accessories, 12v & 110v switch panels)
  • Installation of service truck body equipment (hydraulic and electric cranes, inverter/revolt systems, evac systems, compressors)
  • Troubleshooting and performing service body mechanical repairs or refurbishing service bodies
  • Fabrication of equipment or service truck bodies
  • Performing automotive wiring and schematics
  • Work in the refurb/installation department. Troubleshoot and find solutions to any refurb, or mechanical/service issues
  • Shop cleanup

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • HET JM an asset
  • Has reliable transportation
  • Clean nonGDL driver's abstract (3year)
  • Own tools
