CLINICAL SCHOLAR

(TEMPORARY FULL TIME/TEMPORARY PART TIME)


One (1) temporary full time/ or (2) temporary part time Clinical Scholar Positions are available at Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH).

***: The Clinical Scholar Program (CSP) is a program that provides experienced nurses with leadership and mentorship opportunities in a Clinical Scholar role while working in a supernumerary position. As a member of the Professional Practice Team, the Clinical Scholars will mentor newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses (IENs) and nurses seeking to upskill and can support and supervise the new nurses' transition into the workforce. Clinical Scholars will work in collaboration with other teams as required supporting the strategic vision and direction of GMCH.


As a Clinical Scholar you would be responsible for providing mentorship to the program beneficiaries and to support their nursing practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Registered Nurse (RN) or a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the General Class in good standing; or nurses who have retired and still registered with the CNO.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Experience in frontline care in a hospital clinical setting, including: ER, Medicine, Cardiac Monitoring, Phlebotomy, Intravenous Therapy, etc.
  • Previous experience teaching, working with clinical learners, IENs, and/or precepting required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, be selfdirected and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with inter professional teams.
  • Ability to evaluate clinical learners and IENs, as well as orient to hospital policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent clinical skills and competencies.
  • Demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate Patient and staff safety principles and practices.
  • Ability to work all shifts as necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values.
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required.
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date.
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills necessary for effective patient and staff interaction in a busy, demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and performance development (including focus on palliative care) to contribute towards achievement of unit goals and objectives.

HOURS:


  • Must be available for all shifts, and weekends, as per department schedule.
  • All other contract rules apply.

SALARY:


  • ONA salary grid (RN Applicants)
  • UNIFOR Service salary grid (RPN Applicants)
