The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a locum Anesthesiologist, with excellent professional and communication skills to provide services at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.

Victoria Hospital is a 164 -bed regional hospital, under Saskatchewan Health Authority, located 143 km north of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

This Hospital is centrally situated in Prince Albert, forming the gateway to Northern Saskatchewan.

This Regional Hospital provides Emergency care, diagnostic services, rehabilitation services, inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, maternal/childcare, and diagnostic services.

In addition, a wide range of health services are provided by skilled health professionals working in multidisciplinary teams within a variety of ambulatory clinics including day surgery, ECG, stress testing, respirology, limited cardiology, renal dialysis unit, colposcopy, endoscopy, audiology, radiology, ultrasound, orthopedic clinic, and an active and successful Adult Day Centre.

Our Adult Intensive Care is an 8 bedded unit (includes 4 Vented beds with additional surge capacity of 2 vented beds) managed mainly by Internists and backup services are provided by Anesthesiologists.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a Level 2B Unit with 11 beds catering to 32 weeks gestation and above.

With a complement of 30 plus Royal College Certified Surgeons in various specialities, we process routine high risk General Surgical and Orthopedic cases.

Our Specialist Obstetric Team routinely caters to High-Risk Obstetric patients 32 weeks gestation and above including but not limited to Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus Type II, Morbid Obesity, Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia complicating pregnancy.

As well, a combination of clinical situations, weather conditions and geographical location of this hospital may force us to deal with operative delivery of multiple comorbidity patients less than 32 week of gestation.

MRI Scanner has well been sanctioned along with the new build and this is expected to significantly increase turnover of radiology patient services.

Saskatchewan Health Authority is currently seeking:

• Successful assessment by Department of Anesthesiology, University of Saskatchewan
• Minimum of 2 years' Anesthesiology practice experience as a Specialist in country of origin
• Candidates with Canadian Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship and Chronic Pain Fellowship is preferred

Candidates must be certified, or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Anesthesiology or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

Victoria hospital's Anesthesiologist team of 7 Specialists covering 4 full operating rooms in addition to diagnostic clinics and procedure rooms providing a broad range of medical care from preoperative anesthesia assessment to advanced service in many perioperative settings.

Physicians at Victoria Hospital have the opportunity to educate and mentor medical students and residents from the University of Saskatchewan Medical School with professional staff members at Victoria Hospital eligible to hold a university appointment.

Curriculum vitae should include precise dates and duration of specific postings, Continuing Medical Education in Anesthesiology year wise details and should be dated no earlier than 1 November 2020.

All applications will be centrally processed by a Board at Provincial Department of Anesthesiology.

Located in the broad valley of the North Saskatchewan River, near the geographical center of the province where the agricultural prairie of the south and the rich forest belt of the north meet.

Highways 2, 11, 55, 302 and 3 all connect in Prince Albert.

There is a vibrant arts community in Prince Albert and an Arts Centre that attracts numerous local and national events.

PA is home to the WHL Raiders hockey team which practices and has games at the Art Hauser Centre. There is a gymnastic club, swim team, various dance studios and numerous city/community leagues for the sport enthusiast.

There is a ski/snowboard hill and many cross country ski trails (some lite at night) at Little Red, a municipal park just outside of Prince Albert with numerous hiking/biking trails.
