Acadecap International School (Académie de la Capitale) is an independent school in Ottawa West from Kindergarten to Grade 12, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, its own pre-secondary school program (PSSP), and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

It is a not-for-profit charitable institution.

Acadecap International School is currently seeking a Finance Officer for July 1, 2021. Current staff will provide necessary training.


Description:
The Bookkeeper works closely with the director as part of the administrative team. He, she or he plays an active role in the long-term planning of the school's operations.

He, or she is an advocate for the school and makes decisions based on what is best for the school.

Must be creative their approaches to problem solving and resourceful in obtaining desired results.

Finance

  • AR/AP
  • Payroll
  • Regular bank deposits
  • Enrollment contracts
  • Receipts (tax receipts)
  • Client care re: tuition
  • Review recommended training for staff and check for funding program applicability
  • Reviewing/approving job orders for regular supplies/services
  • Monitoring competitor prices and programs
HR

  • Keeping track of hours, absences, and vacation
  • Being aware of current labour laws
  • Employee contracts
  • Staffing for school
  • Discussing payrollrelated concerns
  • Addressing staff regarding workplace issues/concerns when required
  • Supply teacher bookings
Operations and Programs

  • Involvement in allstaff meetings and general activities in school
  • Creating fees and admissions packages
  • Creating program forms (in conjunction with director/admin/teachers)
  • Preparing letters of acceptance (for international students) done with Admissions and Director
  • Filling in for Admissions (desk work) as part of administration team
  • Assess feasibility and risks involved in proposed activities/programs; provide recommendations
  • Collating data for legal disputes if and when these arise
  • Other operational responsibilities will be assigned as required

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
Our open-concept space and small numbers allow for optimal social distancing and use of screens. Staff are provided with mandatory PPE and additional health and safety policies are in place. Staff work remotely during mandated closures.
