Manitoba's Mental Health and Community Wellness (MHCW) department is looking for two Policy Analysts to join our expanding team.


The department of Mental Health and Community Wellness' vision is that Manitobans experience optimal physical, mental, emotional, cultural and spiritual well-being across their lifespan.


MHCW takes a whole-of-government approach to providing strategic leadership, funding, policy direction and oversight for Manitoba's Mental Health and Substance Use/Addictions system as well as chronic disease prevention and health promotion.

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL:


  • Postsecondary education in health, social sciences or public administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with planning, design, development and implementation of policies and programs, including conducting research, analysis, developing options and providing recommendations.
  • Experience managing projects including creation of work plans, coordinating work, and monitoring progress.
  • Experience using quality improvement methods and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex information, evidence and research to facilitate the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of policies and programs.
  • Strong problemsolving skills to evaluate complex issues and provide sound advice and recommendations.
  • Experience building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent written communication skills to draft authority seeking documents, recommendations and proposals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a high functioning team.
  • High level of political acumen and sound judgment.
  • Effective time management skills to manage multiple assignments with competing priorities.

DESIRED:


  • Experience in mental health, addictions or health promotion practice, preferably in public service and/or in community and clinical/institutional settings.

Duties:

The Policy Analyst supports departmental corporate, operational and business-related planning and implementation of policies, programs and service enhancements.

The incubment will undertake research, analysis, prepare various written communication and correspondence, work on project teams and colloborate with various stakeholders to advance policy planning for the department to further priorities of the department.
