Job Overview
This is an entry-level position that will grow as the company grows. We're looking for someone who wants to make a place for themselves with our team long term.

Being in the Construction Industry, this is a hybrid office/ field position, and will require frequent visits to construction sites that require PPE.


Reporting to the Office Manager and General Manager, the HR Generalist will support and coordinate recruiting for both office and field positions, support the General Manager and Construction Manager with staff development and retention, and assist with the update and maintenance of the company's HR policies, documentation, reporting, and HRIS.


Duties Include

  • Assists the hiring managers with identifying staffing requirements, developing position guides, and managing job ads. Conducts phone screens and organizes interviews for the hiring managers.
  • Establishes strong relationships with staff agencies, trade schools, universities, ITA, and other key organizations.
  • Assists Admin department with maintaining HRIS; maintains employee files.
  • Organizes and oversees new employee onboarding and orientation
  • Supports the General Manager and Construction Manager in conducting regular performance reviews, and tracks employee goals, training, and career mapping
  • Collaborates with the Management and Admin Teams to develop and execute programs, initiatives, events, etc. to motivate, support and empower the employees
  • Maintains and "Open Door Policy" and ensures staff feel comfortable coming forward with personal or professional concerns; Promotes the EAP; Investigates complaints and grievances and advises management of appropriate action
  • Assists in the management of the Apprentice Program
  • Assists General Manager/ Construction Manager with termination, offboarding and exit interviews.
  • Collaborates with the Management and Admin Teams to develop and maintain company policy manuals
  • Assists Office Manager with event planning

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Entry-Level HR experience and/ or administrative experience plus HR training

Key Hard Skills:


  • HR training/ education
  • Good working knowledge of BC Employment Standards Act
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams (O365)
  • Fluent in English, with strong writing and proofreading abilities.
  • Preference given to those with previous experience in the construction industry
  • Preference given to those with previous experience with ITA/ apprentice management

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a combination of environments (office/ field/ fabrication shop).

Personal protective equipment is required in designated areas, including:
hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toed safety shoes. Overtime as required to meet deadlines. Some travel may be required
