Are you a Business Intelligence professional with focus on platform administration and support and strong Leadership and Communication skills looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity? Canada Data Team is looking for an Analytics Platform and Tools Team Lead to join our team.


The Analytics Platform and Tools Team Lead is responsible for leading the team that provides platform and tool solutions to support the analytics and business intelligence needs at Canada Life, acting as a high-level decision maker, and oversees aspects related to platform solutions, capabilities deployment and support of the lifecycle from design choices to technical best practices.

This role provides thought leadership by acting as a technical lead for a large portfolio.

This role applies their advanced, specialized knowledge to work on strategic, complex, ambiguous programs that are typically long term with substantial business impact and involves overseeing technical leadership across multiple initiatives.

Further, as an experienced member of the team, the individual will champion and drive the development of standards, tools, processes and best practices.


What you will do

  • Lead the Canada Data Analytics platform team and support BI initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Take technical responsibility over enterprise BI tools such as Power BI, Cognos and Tableau.
  • Lead platform solutions that can be used and/or reused across development teams and projects
  • Ensures designs and specifications are in alignment with performance requirements and standards.
  • Coordinate and support the technical troubleshooting and incident management to resolve complex problems.
  • Support testdriven approaches across teams and transition to production.
  • Oversee the analytics platform team resource management over a large body of work crossing multiple projects or initiatives.
  • Takes an active role in release and environment management.

What you will bring

  • A University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience as a BI Administrator and/or Developer
  • 5 years of experience leading Power BI platforms responsible for building and delivering complex solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Tools for big data: Power BI, Power Platform, Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge of Databricks or Azure Synapse
  • Cognos suite experience (Nice to have)
  • Tableau administration experience (Nice to have)
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to motivate.
  • Customer focus and strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and working within ambiguous situations.
  • Effective time management, prioritization, and decisionmaking skills
