Our fast-paced and motivated team is currently recruiting an Estimator (referred to internally as the Project Development Lead) who will play a key role within Nomodic's operations team.

Reporting to the Director of Design and Engineering, the Project Development Lead plays a key role within Nomodic.

The Project Development Lead's role is to manage, direct and actively complete project development support, including scope development, cost estimating, tendering, scheduling and risk management for modular construction projects.


The Project Development Lead is responsible for the accuracy, quality, and completeness of construction cost estimates and scopes of work deriving from Request for Proposals, Request for Quotes, Tenders and other types of cost requests.

The role coordinates multiple parties including Nomodic team members, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.


The Project Development Lead's duties are to be performed at a high level of professionalism and integrity, ensuring the project goals of safety, cost, scope of work and schedule are maintained throughout their services.


THE JOB
The Project Development Lead performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Maintains and promotes the corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Review client Request for Quote (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or contract documents to ensure all department deliverables are provided
  • Responsible to price modular and site construction projects
  • Drive the finding of pricing efficiencies, competitive advantage and winning strategies
  • Accountable for accurate trade scope of works for estimates
  • Create estimates from available drawings and specifications
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and identify general requirements
  • Work interdepartmentally with key representatives to manage the estimating and project development process on your projects
  • Actively engage subcontractors & consultants to complete estimating deliverables and to maintain successful relationships
  • Manage the internal review and approval process of your projects
  • Participate in site visits and meetings, as required
  • Set and participate in bid meetings including page flip reviews
  • Maintain the directory of suppliers, fabricators, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Participate in endofproject reviews and assess estimates vs. actual performance
  • Update documentation as part of ongoing streamlining and improvement of processes
  • Adhere and contribute to process improvement and strategy sessions
  • Participate in client meetings and discussions
  • Other duties as required
The primary focus of this position is to ensure the following successful outcomes:

  • High-quality, consistent on-time estimates and department deliverables
  • Competitively priced project submissions
  • Fully approved bidset documents with complete and coordinated inputs from all departments as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Completion of postsecondary school is required (or equivalent work experience)
  • A rolerelated certification or designation is considered an asset
  • Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Must have minimum of valid class 5 driver's license

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years Project Development and/or estimating experience, preference given for site works experience
  • Experience in commercial modular construction is an asset
  • Experience as a Project Manager or Project Coordinator in Industrial, Commercial or Residential construction is an asset
  • Experience with estimating and digital take off software
  • Experience reading construction documents such as contracts, drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in a variety of settings
  • Excellent planning, organizing and logistics skills with a propensity for multitasking
  • Capable user of computer tools to support the role including Microsoft Office products, and the willingness to introduce new IT tools to drive efficiencies and automation
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with organizational, time management, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills
  • High standards of ethical conduct; ensuring the preservation of confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Adaptable and is capable to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to promote and exemplify Nomodic's
