Position Overview:
On a rotating basis, operates a multiple-position telephone switchboard and performs the various duties at Inquiry, including cashier functions and overhead paging.
Experience:
- Current working knowledge to operate a multiline telephone console.
- At least oneyear previous experience as a telephone operator required or a minimum of oneyear direct receptionist experience (preferably in a health care setting) required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
- Grade 12 education, required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Medical Terminology Certificate, preferred.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent keyboard skills, minimum 40 WPM in a typing test, required.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), required.
- Demonstrated numerical ability to perform arithmetic calculations. Must attain 60% in math test.
- An excellent command of the English language.
- Ability to page in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
- Ability to cope with a fluctuating workload.
- Superior communications and interpersonal skills an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
