In this role you will procure materials and services for relevant site(s) and be the contact for all suppliers and Head Office Purchasing.

You will be responsible for monitoring inventory quantities; providing administration support; managing bio-medical waste; and providing backfill support to other incumbents within Logistics.


Responsibilities include:


  • Procure materials and services for relevant Canadian Blood Services site(s)
  • Provide administrative support and selected clerical financial duties to the Logistics department
  • Manage biomedical waste
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) management
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required Skills:


  • Secondary school graduation diploma
  • Post
- secondary education in Material Management, Accounting or Business Finance from an accredited community college or academic institution is an asset

  • A minimum of two years related working experience within a Logistics environment or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective problem solving skills, capable of interpreting and analysing reports to make plausible recommendations
  • Accurate keyboarding and computer skills
  • Advanced skills in financial systems software, preferably SAP
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Willingness to undertake Shipper/Receiver training and achieve an acceptable level of competency in shipping/receiving, handling of Dangerous Goods (DG), WHMIS, and MSDS
  • Maintain current knowledge of Canadian Blood Services SOPs, COPs, Supplements, Directives and Information Bulletins, etc. to perform job functions in accordance with Canadian Blood Services regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to follow GMP, WHMIS, and OH&S training instructions
  • Must be physically capable of lifting/carrying in excess of 10 kgs
