JOB SUMMARY
The plant operations/maintenance supervisor will ensure safe operations and efficient maintenance of the facility assets/equipment. The supervisor will be responsible for supervising operations employees and maintenance staff in a manufacturing environment. The supervisor will also ensure key performance indicators and targets are achieved.

The Supervisor will create operations schedules and assign maintenance work orders, implement policies and procedures and recommends improvement in operations methods, equipment, and working conditions.

The supervisor will manage the integration of contractor tasks and external consultants in support of daily operations, and track/review their deliverables.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental, Health, Safety & Training (EHS&T) and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Confirm compliance with the requirements of any applicable Governmental Authority, Applicable Law, Standards and Guidelines, Permits and Approvals and the Facility License requirements;
  • Ensure public safety and protection of property while complying with the requirements listed above regarding such matters; key duties & responsibilities;
  • Communicate EHS&T expectations, procedures and rules to employees and hold employees accountable for meeting expectations and following procedures, and enforce all EHS&T rules;
  • Report and document all injuries and near miss incidents, and participates in all investigations
Monitors completion of all required training for personnel under their supervision and verify employees have received adequate training prior to assigning a task; and

  • Know the work process, the hazards involved and control measures for the hazards and ensure employees have the knowledge, tools and equipment to work safely and enforce housekeeping standards in their areas and implement actions to correct repeated problems.

Plant Operations

  • Achieve goals and targets for an efficient operation of the facility through building teams, motivating individuals and solving problems;
  • Responsible for planning and organizing work schedules, distributing tasks to the team, overseeing work progress and performance;
  • Advise processing teams about correct operation of equipment and work with equipment and machinery, or with processing equipment, or on conveyor systems that transport material;
  • Take account of the functional interrelationships of the facility, including plantwide SCADA/HMI and Asset Management System and provide for efficient facilitywide operations.

Assent Management and Maintenance

  • Supervise key activities of the routine and preventative maintenance schedules and planned shutdowns for the facility, including all process units, building maintenance, housekeeping and landscaping maintenance activities;
  • Guarantee planned annual maintenance program and ad hoc repairs are executed to reduce the risk of a performance failure from occurring and the actual annual facility availability will be equal to or greater than the annual facility availability;
  • Maintain operation and maintenance manuals and record drawings up to date as well as asset data to build and maintain a comprehensive record of the scope, condition and performance of the asset base, including tracking all maintenance records and performance records;
  • Utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other software including Microsoft Office products to work efficiently and work with plant operations, maintenance and the CMMS administrators to develop appropriate workflows.

Leadership

  • Lead a mixed trades or specialist team (e.g. electrical, mechanical, welding, environmental, etc.); objectively describe work tasks, regulatory requirements, company policies, and expectations and support the team to meet objectives and established schedules;
  • Develop employees by providing advice, training, encouragement and coaching and ensure that workers are welltrained and have the skills and knowledge they need to do their jobs safely and effectively;

Assist in hiring of employees; integrate new hires; coordinate staff, employee rotation, and employee movement; evaluates employee performance; ensures compliance with policies, and legislation.
