The Opportunity
- DH for our transfer vessel or tug boat within the Kitimat harbour as part of the LNGC Deckhand is responsible for the safely and efficiency of the vessel and following the direction from the vessel Captain / Master. The Deckhand is to be an ambassador for Bridgemans and our safety management system in their personal conduct as part of the crew.
- Locals preferred but rotational also available.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lookout duties as assigned by vessel Master/Operator.
- Safety and security rounds as assigned.
- Safety of passengers during embarking, disembarking and when underway
- Verifying that all crew and passengers have all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and it is donned before boarding the vessel
- Assisting in loading/unloading equipment/cargo to and from the vessel both onshore and offshore
- Perform passenger safety briefings
- Monitor transfer of client cargo and record as required
- Complete passenger counts and report to Master.
- Operate crane and perform cargo handling (Rigger/Banksman) if certified, as required
- Deck duties as directed by Master/vessel operator, completed safety checks, engine checks, vessel husbandry, vessel interior and exterior cleaning and sanitation.
Qualifications
- Relevant marine experience preferred
- Excellent comprehension and command of the English language; (written & verbal)
- Marine Emergency Duties A3 (MED A3)
- Radio Operators Certificate
- Marine (ROC-M)
- Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid (MBFA) / (MAFA)
- Valid Seafarers Medical certificate (MMC)
- Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring with addition to randomly with prior notice
Working Conditions
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Exposure to environmental elements including extreme weather conditions
