John's NL for the position of:


Child and Youth Care Worker(s)

(Full-time, Part-time and Casual/Relief Positions Available)


We are looking for innovative and creative Child and Youth Care Workers to provide care, supervision, and support to young people with complex needs.

The work is varied and will include relationship building, planning, and participating in social and recreational activities including land-based activities, teaching life skills, providing educational supports and developing and implementing individualized intervention plans.


The successful applicant(s) must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self-aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations.

Required Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 2years' experience in a nonparental role providing support, mentorship, coaching, teaching, or guidance to young people with challenging behaviors or an equivalent combination of education and work or volunteer experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and their families with an ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of family functioning and group dynamics, traumainformed practices, behavior management techniques, and excellent communication skills
  • A valid Driver's License and clear drivers abstract.
  • Willingness to obtain crisis intervention training certifications (TCI, ASIST, and UMAB training will be provided to successful applicants by Key Assets NL).
  • Current, or willingness to complete, Standard First Aid/CPR certification.

Additional Qualifications:

The following qualifications, while not a requirement, will be considered assets in the applicant selection process:

  • A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or a related discipline.
  • Daily access to a personal vehicle and $2 Million Business Liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience as a foster parent

  • Clear Certificate of Conduct, Vulnerable Sector Check from RNC/RCMP
  • Clear Child Protection record check.
  • Valid proof of ability to work in Canada
  • 3 references from a former employer(s)
