About This Role

At Faire, we are building an advertising solution to help brands boost their visibility in the marketplace and acquire new customers.

The Ads Engineering team is part of a small and fast-moving product development team.

We own the ads delivery infrastructure, partner closely with Data Science to improve ads relevance and delivery efficiency, and collaborate with Search Infrastructure to improve the capability and performance of the core retrieval and ranking engine that powers both search and ads.

As a Staff Backend Developer on the Ads Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing the next iteration of ads delivery with improved retrieval speed, relevance and scale to 10x the current size.

Qualifications
~3+ years of industry experience with search/ads retrieval infrastructure
~ Experience with common search platforms (e.g. Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr, FAISS) or equivalent homegrown solutions with large-scale deployment
~ Experience with productionizing machine learning models into an online serving system

Experience in solving complex scaling and latency problems in high-volume online serving systems
Strong programming skills, including experience with the following
Kotlin, Java 16
JUnit, Hibernate, Guice, Jersey
JSON, and Protocol Buffers
MySQL
Strong analytical skills and experience implementing data-driven decision making at project and team levels.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions, teams and seniority levels.
Experience in developing strategy and roadmap, and in leading execution autonomously.
Salary Range

Canada:
the pay range for this role is $164,000-$225,500 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location.

The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
