Purpose of Position:


The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for analyzing aircraft systems and procedures, and providing technical input for the production of FlightSafety courseware by performing various functions to include information gathering, preparation of input, review of production materials, and review of errata.

This position may serve as the liaison for new program development and enable Learning Centers to deliver standardized training materials that positively impact FlightSafety's training revenues while allowing the Learning Center Instructors to remain engaged in ongoing classroom activities.


Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Analyze program specific aircraft systems to gain an in depth operational knowledge to support program development and review of finalized courseware for technical accuracy.
Proficiently operate and interpret onboard maintenance diagnostic software/equipment, e.g. CMC/MDC.Study and interpret various aircraft's technical schematic/wiring diagrams in order to effectively prepare training program input.

Research aircraft specific field service reports across all OEMs and study trends to determine commonalities that can be utilized for scenario training for multiple OEM/airframe specific training.

Research and collect relevant technical materials from aircraft manufacturers or specific companies in order to gain technical knowledge.
Analyze appropriate systems and provide technical expertise to the development teams' development efforts.

Define and develop requirements for troubleshooting programs that outline malfunctions, flight deck simulation, LRU functionality, and necessary test equipment for checking electrical accuracy of simulated "engineered schematics" for aircraft specific platforms.

Effectively navigate OEM technical publications for location of appropriate information to prepare input materials as well as supporting engineering development.

Develop standardized sets of training program input for use in aircraft specific troubleshooting programs.
Document and report program discrepancies details in writing.


Mentoring/Training Activities:

  • Support inhouse development and review efforts by communicating directly with Instructional Systems Specialist and Courseware Management. Interpreting discrepancies/comments, and providing recommendations to the courseware team for resolution.
Assist with the creation of product specific input and processes for courseware development.
Ensure that the training materials have adequately addressed course objectives.
Conduct demonstrations for FlightSafety personnel.

Teamwork - Internal and External Activities:

  • Conduct analysis of training and implementation needs/trends while interacting with other department teammates to make assignments, delegate, answer questions and resolve issues, as they arise. Communicate with teammates, both internal and external, regarding any upgrades and/or changes that might be made in existing training and implementation service and support deliverables.
