The Opportunity:

The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an
Information Technology Analyst.

Under the direction of an Information Technology Supervisor or Coordinator, the Information Technology Analyst provides all levels of technical resolution to clients and operational solutions relating to hardware, software, network, voice, and related client and server technology.


This position performs these main functions/duties:

  • Performs corporate server maintenance operations including:
  • Microsoft Exchange Server management (on premise and online)
  • NTFS file server permissions administration
  • Server fleet log management and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft AD/DNS/DHCP administration
  • Works closely with IT Service Management to provide secondlevel support and M365 licensing administration
  • Microsoft M365 tenant administration
  • VMware Infrastructure (VMs, hosts, vSphere, networking, and performance) management, monitoring and issue remediation
  • Supports and promotes the City's adoption of Microsoft 365 technologies and integration strategies
  • Must have a 2year technical computer diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in an Information Technology Services environment.
  • Must have 3 years' experience in a comparable position:
  • Working in a medium to large sized networked environment
  • Deep understanding of the Microsoft M365 platform for the enterprise
  • Using and troubleshooting modern Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10 & Server 2019)
  • Administration of VMware ESXi host servers and virtual machines
  • Experience in the following will be an asset:
  • SolarWinds Orion Platform
  • Corporate server fleet administration
  • Networking experience with a good understanding of the TCP/IP suite of protocols
  • Providing technical and user training
  • Technical support for Microsoft Active Directory 2012 or higher, and Group Policy Management
  • M365 administration including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Defender, and the suite of Office 365 apps
  • Microsoft SCCM and WSUS administration
  • SIEM solutions and other system security tools
  • Must have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Information Technology Staff, enduser department personnel and outside vendors & consultants.
  • Must have the ability to exert moderate physical effort (e.g. lifting computers and related equipment)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications
  • Must have the ability the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Must have the ability to work in a demanding and frequently stressful environment.
  • Must have valid drivers license and be able perform field service calls
  • Must be available to perform after hours call out duties on a scheduled basis

Remuneration:

$34.62 to $52.53 per hour


Hours of Work:


75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, with an expectation of regular rotation in an on-call support and some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
