We are a single R&D Procurement group that supports integrated R&D units - one for Oncology and one for Bio-Pharmaceuticals.

The units have responsibility for the value chain from discovery through to late-stage development, enabling rapid acceleration of promising early-stage assets and life-cycle management programs.


This is an exciting leadership opportunity to line manage a group of global individuals who provide Procurement partnering to Clinical Operations Program Leads and Study Teams across all therapeutic areas.

The Study Procurement Partner team (SPP Team) play a meaningful role to support the implementation of Procurement category plans across Clinical Operations to ensure that the underpinning process improvement and procurement activities deliver the expected business value in accordance with the strategic plans.

This role will report to the R&D Procurement Senior Director of Business Planning and Operations.


Strategy:

  • Accountable for the Clinical Operations demand intake process for R&D Procurement
  • Accountable for the Clinical Operations therapeutic area(s) customer relationships and training in order to optimise business performance and develop future improvement opportunities and translate these needs into specific requirements for Procurement.
  • Accountable to build strong relationships with customers and contribute to the success of partner satisfaction.
  • Accountable to build strong relationships between the SPP Team and Procurement Category Teams to drive mutual benefit as well as ensuring that SPP Team in collaboration with R&D Procurement Operations provide support to clinical study teams to ensure inspection readiness for clinical trial submissions and inspections.
  • Responsible for team understanding of the global spend and finding opportunities to increase quality and improve value for money. Facilitates implementation of procurement change initiatives within category to improve business performance.

Leadership:

  • Accountable for managing the Study Procurement Partners Team, resources, and team objectives in support of category and R&D Procurement targets through direct reports. Manage overall portfolio and all direct reports performance globally.
  • Leads, Coaches, and develops professional aspects of Procurement team members.
  • Establishing and developing a team by attracting high calibre talent from within and outside the organization and providing appropriate opportunities and support

Business & Supplier Engagement:

  • Leads the Clinical Operations nonpreferred supplier governance ensuring onboarding decisions are aligned with the overall business and aligned Procurement category strategy.
Essential

  • Degree level qualification or proven experience
  • Detailed knowledge of Research and Development or pharmaceutical industry
  • Expertise in at least one area of Procurement and knowledge of several others
  • Proven leadership experience and line management experiences
  • Proven business partnering capability evidenced by the ability to communicate and negotiate with senior management teams
  • Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
