The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (CCMH at SickKids) is a child and youth mental health centre integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

CCMH at SickKids is undertaking an ambitious agenda to establish a revitalized academic community mental health centre that provides the highest quality of care, combined with excellence in teaching and community-based research.

CCMH at SickKids is located across two sites in Toronto and offers both in-person and virtual care to clients and their families, from prevention and early intervention through assessment, counselling and therapy and intensive services.

We are also connected to the continuum of mental health services for children and youth supported by SickKids:

the Brain and Mental Health Program, the SickKids TeleLink Mental Health Program, the SickKids CCMH Learning Institute and our online resources through AboutKidsHealth.

We are seeking applicants to fill a full-time regular position as a Clinical Supervisor that supervises an assigned program at SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management

  • Participates in the development and implementation of operational plans that flow from the strategic plan
  • Provides leadership and guidance in developing and carrying out changes as part of continual Quality Improvement plans
  • Identifies and responds to staff and operational needs and escalates issues, as appropriate, to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Supervises staff within an assigned department, interviewing and hiring new employees, carrying out performance appraisals, directing the training, development and succession planning of staff and carrying out disciplinary actions
  • Makes decisions within established clinical treatment policies, procedures and best practices referring unusual or unique situations
  • Acts on behalf of the assigned Manager during absences

Clinical Supervision

  • Supervises daytoday clinical services provided by staff to clients through monitoring the implementation of treatment plans, case management, referral services and the delivery of clinical services to clients ensuring adherence to College and Accreditation standards
  • Supervises case crisis and identifies potential risks in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Maintains uptodate knowledge of clinical treatment trends, best practices and policies within the industry
  • Reviews incident and serious occurrence reports handling complaints
  • Responds to crisis calls, clients with escalated concerns or client grievances

Direct Service

  • Has sound knowledge of family therapy modalities and traumarelated therapies
  • Ensures provision of individualized assessments, treatments and followup services for individual/family/group therapy and treatment
  • Ensures provision of case management, liaison and referral services for clients

Other

  • Complies with the organization's vision, policies and procedures
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management

Working Conditions

  • Works in a pleasant office environment including schools and meeting rooms
  • Exposure to constant interruptions/distractions, deadlines, multiple demands, noise, stress, verbal abuse, outoftown travel and work schedules affecting lifestyle
  • Some exposure to hazards such as highly emotional situations, threats of violence, chemical substances, cuts, equipment, not solutions, muscle strain from lifting, noxious fumes, sharp instruments and working in dangerous places

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or equivalent and a minimum of three years' related supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability lead and motivate employees
  • Membership with a professional association such as Ontario College of Social Work, or College of Psychotherapist
  • First aid, CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and/or Intervention and Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with all levels of staff and clients
  • Excellent problemsolving skills to coordinate complex crisis situations and solutions
  • Ability to incorporate values of a culturally competent practice of diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of work
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as ability to use office equipment efficiently (telephone, photocopier, scanner and fax)
  • Ability to work flexible hours and, on occasion, travel
