General Assistant - Sample Receipt ClerkLocation:

Reports to:
Supervisor or Team Lead
About the Position:
As a Sample Receipt Clerk, you will work with a dedicated Sample Receipt team, committed to exceeding client expectations. You are responsible for the timely and accurate processing of client samples into the analysis stream.
The priority will be to receive and organize samples, verify client information, and enter pertinent information into the laboratory data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all clients in a friendly manner without delay
- Receive, sort and label client samples
- Register client sample information / testing requirements into the laboratory management system (LIMS)
- Distribute samples to the laboratory
- Liaise with clients regarding sample submissions and related queries
- Communicate with laboratory staff of any nonconformances or priority work
- Perform all tasks in accordance with established procedures to ensure quality
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

- Process oriented, with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations
- Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading)
- Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), with basic computer skills
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required
- Some experience working in a fastpaced, production, and/or preparation environment
- Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety is an asset
- Experience working with chemicals or in a laboratory setting (ex. school) is an asset, but not required
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves etc.
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks
- Ability to stand for up to a full shift
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
- You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and may require day, afternoon, or weekend shift work
